US SQUASH SCHOLAR ATHLETE AWARD

The US Squash Scholar Athlete Award recognizes high school students who excel in both the classroom and on the squash court.  High school students who have a 3.5 or higher GPA at the end of the school year and have played in four US Squash accredited singles tournaments, or an approved number of US Squash Scholastic Squash Program (SSP) matches between April 1, 2018 to May 31, 2019, are eligible to apply (National Championships held after April 1st will count for the previous year only).

What are four US Squash accredited tournaments or approved number of US Squash Scholastic Squash Program (SSP) matches?

  • Six regular season high school matches count as one tournament
    • Note: This does NOT include matches played a at High School Team Championships
    • Note: Regular season high school matches can count for a maximum of one tournament (i.e., if a player participated in twelve matches, that still only counts as one tournament)
  • High School Team Championships count as one tournament
  • All Bronze, Silver, Gold, JCT, National tournaments count as one tournament

Impact on Darien High School Players?

  • Varsity: MOST Varsity players finished the season with two accredited tournaments (i.e., equivalent of six team matches, and US High School Championships).  These players would have to play in two US Squash Bronze, Silver, Gold, JCT, Nationals tournaments BEFORE May 31, 2019 to meet their four accredited tournaments.
  • Junior Varsity: MOST JV players finished the season with one accredited tournament (i.e., equivalent of six team matches).  These players would have to play in three US Squash Bronze, Silver, Gold, JCT, Nationals tournaments BEFORE May 31, 2019 to meet their four accredited tournaments.
